When first introduced back in 2006, both as a replacement for the ZX-12R and a strong competitor for the Suzuki Hayabusa, the Ninja ZX-14 is based on the same recipe as now. The engine was the same and it was fuel from the first years of manufacturing and the frame is as light as possible, while giving a new meaning to acute treatment of this class, of course. 2006 colors were Passion Red, Ebony, and Candy Thunder Blue.

The only thing this bike really need to fall each year was a different color space and nothing more. So in 2007 it recommended the Diablo Black Candy Plasma Blue and Special Edition Pearl Crystal White, while in 2008 the colors Metallic Midnight Sapphire Blue, Atomic Silver, Metallic Flat Spark and special version Black / Metallic Persimmon Red charged. If a large engine, the Kawasaki ZX-14 featured at least less eccentric colors in an attempt to look like the twisty. But, despite its size, was painted Candy Lime Green, Super Flat Black Kawasaki and even introduces two special edition colors, Candy Burnt Orange and Metallic Diablo Black.

Central Ram Air duct produces a straighter path to the airbox for maximum intake efficiency
This system cooler, higher pressure air from in front of the fairing and guides it through the air cleaner and the engine for maximum power
Digital gas injection
44mm Mikuni throttle bodies are fitted with a sub-throttle valves that are controlled by the ECU to provide precise response and make DFI power and SPD smoother, with response similar to constant velocity carburetors
32-bit electronic control unit works with several setup to further enhance throttle response and gas control
A digital computer feeds the engine exactly the amount of gas it needs for cleaner emissions and maximum fuel
Digital Ignition
Digital Timing Advance enhances low-and mid-range power
Four individual spark plug mounted ignition coils fire each spark plug independently the optimal timing for that cylinder at that time to achieve
ECU has a starting speed control system for easier starting and warm-up
Radial Pump Clutch Master Cylinder
Hydraulic clutch master cylinder has a radial-pump clutch for smooth and precise clutch engagement
Next-Generation Monocoque Aluminum Frame
Evolved from the ZX-12R, the frame is a hollow aluminum box that arches over the engine from the steering head to the swing arm pivot. It is narrow, powerful, sleek and very light
motor is securely mounted to the monocoque s increase torsional stiffness. Plus using the engine as a stressed frame member decreases the frame s weight by approximately four pounds
engine positioned forward in the frame, wheelbase and front / rear weight balance were carefully designed to achieve high stability and responsive handling SPD
Huge head pipe casting contributes to frame rigidity
The monocoque section houses the air box and air filter in a space-saving design that actually simplifies air cleaner maintenance. Two screws hold a plate on the left side of the frame that allows air cleaner access
The battery is also located in the frame and has simple access through the back of the frame
The steering head and swing arm pivot areas are cast aluminum for superior strength and stiffness
Inverted 43mm Cartridge Type Front Fork
Damping rates offer stiff initial action against the forward end dive when braking
Stepless damping adjustment improves suspension performance
The ZX-14 frame s pattern is every bit the equal of the power. An improved version of Kawasaki’s unique aluminum monocoque design frame is lightweight and very strong. By using this frame technology, engineers were able to focus on delivering a slim, short deck.

Kawasaki engineers and designers have been an engine Ram Air and fuel injection engine in the core of a powerful, TQ-production, aerodynamic stunner that attract the attention of bystanders or road, or parked along the road runs.

When the rider is stopped, the motorcycle at the center of attention. Because the monocoque frame goes over the engine doesn t and stabbing through the fairing, the fairing design lines continuously, making it a smooth, seamless appearance from front to back. Quadruple projector beam headlights adorn the ZX-14 s front cover, with the outer lenses with high beams and position lamps. Low beams are located behind the two center lenses. The turn signals are integrated neatly into the cockpit and rear cap, and a LED lamp has a unique V-pattern. Overall the ZX-14 s aerodynamics remind users that Kawasaki is indeed an aircraft maker. This blending of form, power and maneuvering characteristics have delivered a motorcycle with appeal that extends far beyond its high performance audience.

All told, Kawasaki brought its engineering expertise and pattern to the forefront of motorcycle creation. The Ninja ZX-14 does its Ninja heritage, and far exceeds the competition. The meaning of the word dominant has found its true definition.

All of this just makes you wonder what they’ll call the next big thing in sportmotorcycles, something better and faster than the ZX14, doesn’t it? Despite being described as a purely marketing-oriented, non-existant expression, the term does a pretty good job giving someone a correct image of the sportmotorcycle as far as its performances go, and then again, come to think about it, maybe an entirely new term IS needed to describe such a jewel on two wheels. “Busa killer” is more of a streetwise equivalent of “hypermotorcycle” This guy eats Busas ( as in Suzuki’s Hayabusa) for breakfast, doesn’t it.

Everybody who’s more or less involved with sportmotorcycles is familiar with the term: “Supermotorcycle” “Hypermotorcycle” is a term derived from it, in the attempt of trying to showcase the fact that this motorcycle is more than a regular supermotorcycle. It’s better, it’s bigger, it’s faster and it’s stronger. It’s hyper. Well, I just have to see what a motorcycle dubbed the ”Busa Killer” has really got to it.

The engine of the motor was developed from the Kawasaki ZX12R’s but it does incorporate some elements entirely new for a Kawasaki. The first thing that surprises about the motorcycle is how quiet it is at high rpms. Well, if it is a killer, it’s sure a quiet one, only sportmotorcycles do not kill each other by being quiet. There’s just got to be something here the “ Busa Killer” is hiding. Of course: the oil pressure Cam Chain Tensioner. This ninja zx14 forces oil pressure onto the cam tensioner, thus reducing slack and implicitly motor noise.

Given the fact that it’s got a Liquid cooled, in line four, 84 Bore x 61 mm stroke, 16 valve, 1355 cm3 motor to quell, I’d say the “killa” certainly has horsepowers to put where it’s producers mouths are. The motor delivers 190 HP at 9500 rpm, and I do believe any further comment on this would be beating around the bush.

Another thing about the ZX14: this ninja zx14 is one hell of a smooth operator. A smooth killer aye?

There’s a combination of constructional elements that make this motorcycle handle extremely smoothly. First of all there’s the monocoque frame that connects both on top and bottom of the motor, thus making for better torsional rigidity, then there’s the secondary motor balancer set up to reduce vibrations and the longer swing-arm, made of aluminum, and less rigid.

The way this motorcycle handles is amazing. For a sportmotorcycle that can reach 100 km/h from standstill in around 2,5 seconds a healthy set of brakes is a must, and the “flag ship”, “hypermotorcycle”, “ Busa killer” once again hits the nail right on the head. The four-piston, four-pad radial mount front calliper assures great response and braking power.

The smooth behaviour of the motorcycle is made better by the state of the art aerodynamics assisted by a number of deflectors located on the front forks, side fairings and mirrors.

The feature that I found most convincing though, is something else. This motorcycle just eats up the road. It’s great how well it covers large distances with little fuss. On my part I’d rather call it “ the tarmac eater” or something…. Well, maybe it’s not as cool as “Busa killer” but what the heck, try one and you’ll find yourself calling it all kinds of names too.
